Welcome to our Community Noticeboard!

This is where we put links to interesting clubs, fun things to do, local events and anything else we can think of that you might like to enjoy out of school time.

We have put together an overview of clubs that we are aware of in the local community (please use the link below)- we would love to keep adding to this. If you know of something fun coming up, or you’re a member of a club and you’d like us to put a link on this page, please contact the school office or email Miss Ireland at kireland@bowerham.lancs.sch.uk.

Beavers, Cubs & Scouts

For over a hundred years, West Lancs Scouts has helped children and young people develop skills for life and supported them to develop as responsible and active members of their community. The last year has been incredibly challenging for us all, but particularly young people. We believe we can offer children a change for more green time and less screen time. By getting young people outdoors and taking part in hundreds of different activities we want to support a generation of young people with their mental health and wellbeing. We offer something for everybody, for young people aged from 5 ¾ to 18yrs as Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and eventually Explorer Scouts and it’s not just for boys – more than 1/4 of our youth membership is female.

Scouting is affordable and we want every young person to have the chance to benefit from what we have on offer. So, I’ve attached a flyer and would really appreciate it if you could share this electronically with your pupils and parents.

If you have any more questions, or would like to find out more about Scouts, then please get in touch.

Hadashi Karate at Bowerham

Karate

Karate is hosted at Bowerham School in the Lower Hall each Tuesday and is run by Sensei Andrea Carbon. You can apply for her classes and find out more about it at her website which is at http://hadashimartialarts-lancaster.co.uk/

Sensei Carbon also runs a scholarship called ‘The Nina Chenault Scholarship for Primary Academic and Athletic Development’ The scholarship provides karate tuition at no cost to student recipients but students need to train at least twice a week and maintain good standing and behaviour in school. Students will still be required to pay for club membership (licenses), gradings and karate uniforms, however, it is hoped that we might be able to obtain good second-hand uniforms through donations. Recipients from low income and disadvantaged backgrounds will be considered. Awards are limited to 5 at any one time. Please see the Hadashi website for more information.
