The Year 3 Curriculum

Please click on the link below for  key documents which will give you as a parent or carer an overview of what our Year 3 pupils will be learning this year and the skills that they will need to develop.

Click here to find out more about each topic and, as ever, if you have any questions about your child’s learning then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Routines

Year 3 children are to be dropped off at the pupil entrance and the children will enter school via the Year 3 cloakroom door, where a member of staff will be there to meet them. The pupil entrance gates will be open from 8:30am, this is to help children arrive in a steady stream and support social distancing. Teaching begins at 8:40 am and the Year 3 cloakroom door will be shut. After this time, please take your child to the school office.

We would ask that you encourage your child to be independent when coming in to school. It is very important for your child’s development for them to be able to take responsibility for themselves and their own property.

At the end of the day, Year 3 children are collected from the main playground. Our school day finishes at 3:05pm. We ask parents collecting children from Year 3 to stand behind the red line. We work with a “hands up” collection system. Your child will not be sent to an adult collecting until a member of staff has seen who is there to collect. If someone different is due to collect your child please indicate so in the communication diary.

At least 1 member of the staff will be available at the beginning and end of each day to answer any questions that you may have.  Any of the staff will be able to answer your questions or direct you to the appropriate person.  If you wish to make an appointment to see the teachers, this can be arranged at a mutually convenient time.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to any member of the Key Stage 2 team.

PE Day

In year 3 the PE Day is on a Wednesday. Please come to school wearing your full PE kit – you can find a list of uniform here.
